Sweet Lou wins NL Manager of the Year, His Catcher wins the Rookie.

Though Charlie Manuel piloted the Philadelphia Phillies to a world series title, he is not any stage besides the flatbed truck back on haloween. Manuel was favored to win the NL Manager of the Year Award, but...

"Sweet" Lou Pinella, the Chicago Cubs skipper, won his third, manager of the year award.

On the other hand, Joe Maddon, won his first AL manager of the year award for winning the American League Pennant. The Rays finished with 97 wins.

Geovany Soto won the NL Rookie of the Year, with Maddon's 3rd Baseman, Evan Longoria, taking the AL honors.

WE DID IT! 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Brad Lidge Steps onto the rubber. Top of the ninth; two outs. Runner on second. Three balls, two strikes. The windup and the pitch.

Eric Hinske chopped up at 96 mph fastball right down the heart of the plate. Inning over. Game over. Series over. Season over. Wait over.

Brad Lidge threw his glove up in the air. Carlos Ruiz rushed to the mound, a grin from ear to ear. Ryan Howard leaped on to the battery as the flyin' hawiian ran in from the outfield. Scott Eyre and Clay Condrey ran to the field from the bullpen.

The Phillies won the 104th World Series of Baseball, ending with a triumph and champagne.

Though there will be no more games, I will be covering trades, awards and wintermeetings as well as requests for other topics.

Game 1 WORLD SERIES: Hamels @ Kazmir

The dream has come true. We are finally at a waypoint at which we have not approached in 15 years, and have never approached with such confidence. Back in the 1870s, the Philadelphia Quakers were the team to beat. 100 years ad 10,000 losses later, the thought process was not quite the same. But as the fall classic comes to a close, we are being watched by almost 85 million people. As the sports shops in small towns are making handsome profits from phillies gear, we prepare for what we have spent 28 years waiting for: the championship. The most coveted prize in all of sports, the world series trophy has been won by 27 out of the 30 present day teams (the only teams not to win one are the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, The Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, The Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres). The chance is here; take it!

I will make my predictions in a little bit.

GO PHILLIES!

2008- the miracle season

The phillies are beast. Thats final if you dont belive me fine, ill just blab about this for no reason at all. Here goes...

After an 0-2 start to the season, the phillies, equipped with brad lidge, j-roll, the big man, climb the stairs and jayson werth, find themselves ONE win away from a trip to the world series. Seems like a fantasy, doesn't? Ahh, the smell of nachos, the big lineup of baseball cards in the left field gate, the phanatic shooting hot dogs (section 322 is a HUGE hotspot), the citizens 7, it all seems like a dream. A franchise that seemed doomed after 10,000 losses. But we, the fans, never threw the towel in. Not even when we were 7 runs behind against the mets and won on a coste single in the 13th. Not even when we won last year on the final day. That image of number 39, throwing his mizuno  will linger in my 12-year old mind forever. The picture of pedro feliz climbing on top of ryan howard and brad lidge hangs on my wall. This team is a team with heart. a team with passion. A team that bring pride to the color red.  A true team with true determination. When they were 5.5 games out in august, they didn't give up. they couldn't. they are the my team. They are your team.

They are the team to beat!

Now lets get out there and kick some dodger ass!

Postseason '08, Here we come!

The Phillies Clinched their second straight playoff berth as phightins turned two on a heroic play by the little man J-Roll.

Outtaherephils player of the game: Pedro Feliz

Pedro provided the RBI double in the 8th which provided the run that got Brad Lidge his 41st save of the season. This run proved to be the run which won the game.

Today the Phillies and Kyle Kendrick (11-9) square-off (or should i say "sleep-off") against the Nationals and Odalis Perez (7-11). This game virtually means nothing, win or lose, we are still going to the postseason.

Quick Stat: DC Pitcher with most wins-Tim Redding (10-11)
DC Pitcher with best record- Joel Hanrahan (6-3)
The Phillies will most likely win today as we have a young pitcher and a truckload of offense.
This is my prediction:

Kendrick- 6.1IP, 4H, 2R, 2K,1BB
Perez- 4IP, 6H, 5R, 1K, 3BB

Starting Lineup Predictions

Rollins: 2-5, 2B
Werth: 1-4,K
Utley: 3-5, HR (34), 2B
Howard: 3-4, HR (49, 50),BB
Burrell: 1-3, BB
Victorino: 4-4, 2B, HR(15)
Feliz:0-4, 2K
Ruiz: 1-5, 2B
Kendrick: 1-2, K

Magic number shrinks with two to play

The Phillies need a W tonight and a big fat L from the mets to clinch a playoff spot.
Jaime Moyer (15-7) has the season on is shoulders tonight as the Phightins go up against John Lannan (9-14). If we get up by three runs, I would symbolicly put Brett Myers in to close out the title game to reenact last year. Also, I would want to include JA Happ and Greg Golson on the postseason roster, but that may not happen.

Good Day and Go Phillies,

Phils Take 2 Out Of 3 from Fish

Jaime Moyer continued his excellent season with six solid innings, as the Phils defeat the Marlins 5-2. The bullpen pitched three excellent shutout innings and Brad Lidge picked up his 40th save of the season.

Pedro Feliz and Chase Utley provided sparks for the offense, each connecting for two-run homer.

Mets lost and Phils now up 1 and 1/2 games in the east. It looks like the Mets are having another horrid collapse and the Phils are loving every second of it.

Peace,
Harrison

Phillies on a roll; come out with seventh straight win

The Phillies won last night as the boys in red beat out the Braves 4-3 on Thursday.
The Phillies backed up Cole Hamels as he wet six innings for his 14th win of the year.
outtaherephils player of the game: Pat Burrell
Burrell broke out of his little slump with a two run BOMB in the sixth inning that ultimately decided the game!

Brett Myers will look to even out his record to 11-11 tonight as he takes the hill in the opening game in Miami.

Quik Stat: The Phillies finished the season 9-0 at Turner Field.

Phillies: Brett Myers (10-11)
Marlins: Josh Johnson (5-1)

This will really be a starter vs starter because the bullpen may not even come into play for either of the teams. Both pitchers are known for their durability and rarely exit before the seventh. Here's my prediction for the Pitchers:
Myers: 7.2 IP 3ER 1BB 7K (W)
Johnson: 6IP 2ER 2BB 5K (ND)
Phillies Bullpen: 2.3 IP 0ER 1BB 2K
Marlins Bullpen: 4IP 2ER 2BB 2K

With Kevin Gregg's high ERA and losing record for the fish, it will be tough to hold the phillies down, as they are known for exploding in the late innings.

Overall, the Phillies will win the game 5-4 in 10 innings, halting the Marlins W streak at 8.

Peace out and Go Phillies!

Happ is Happy; earns first MLB win

JA Happ got his first career MLB win, 6-1 over Jair Jurrjens and the Braves last night. Ryan Howard hit an RBI single in the first inning to help JA Happ to a four run first.

Quick Stat: The Phillies have not lost a game at Turner Field this season.

Tonights Pitchers:

Hamels (13-9) vs Reyes (3-11)

Hamels is strongly favored to win over Atlanta tonight for one reason:

Cole's ERA is 200 points lower than Reyes'. This means that it will basiclly be a slugfest for both teams.

Cramer Prediction: Ryan Howard will hit yet another bomb and the Phillies will take the win 8-4.

Myers goes the distance, phillies sweep

Brett Myers pitched a hell of a game last night, giving up just one run on two hits over nine innings. He added to the cause with an RBI single in the second and scoring from second base on a single by Jimmy Rollins. Great Job Brett. Shane Victorino chipped in by going 4-4 last night as the Phils took it 6-1. They are tied for first at0p the wild card.

Lil' Man Carrieth; Phillies take Game 2

Jimmy Rollins fell a triple short of the cycle today as Cole Hamels won his 13th game against the brewers, 7-3. Manny Parra took the loss in one and a third innings. Brad Lidge preserved a four run lead in the ninth.

t1_jimmy_rollins.jpg
Jimmy had a great day, scoring three runs, with a single, double and a two-run dinger. Ryan Howard extended his hit streak to seven games. His bat is heating up, as he is now hitting a miniscule, but decent, .243. He has been good on the 'paths though, scoring an average of 1.6 runs per game.

Good Night and Go Phillies
Cramer

Brewers at Phillies: 9/13/08

The Big Guys: Cole Hamels, Jayson Werth, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder.
Where: 1 citizens bank way, home of the phillies.
When: 3:55 pm ET
Who: Manny Parra (10-7) vs Cole Hamels (12-9)
Quick Stat: The Phillies have the home field advantage vs the mets if needed.

Manny Parra will start todays game against Cole Hamels at Citizens Bank Park. The Brewers are favored to lose to Cole for two reasons.

#1: Manny's ERA is almost 100 points higher than Cole's
#2: Manny almost never reaches the seventh inning. For his Career, he goes n average of 4.2 innings per game. Cole rarely leaves before the sixth as his average for  IP/game is 6.2

The offense has been stale in september. This has been a problem for the Phillies this year as they tend to blow leads early in the game and can't catch up later.

The Battle Down Under: This game will be decided by the bottom four in the lineups. This most likely means for the Phillies it will rest on the shoulders of Shane Victorino, Pedro Feliz, Carlos Ruiz, and Cole Hamels.

Speaking of the bottom four, Cole Hamels is hitting well this season. If I'm Charlie Manuel, tis is My Lineup:

SS Rollins
LF Werth
1B Howard
2B Utley
CF Victorino
C Coste
3B Feliz
P Hamels
RF Taguchi

Although this is not the official Lineup, we will win with Hamels hitting eighth. If he can pinch hit in the eleventh, he can hit in the 8 hole.

The Bullpen:

Because the majority of the Brewers hitters are righties, I'm gonna leave this one to Madson. However, if there are back-to-back lefties, Romero will get the call. He has a blazing 95 mph fastball and a great changeup which is his main K pitch.

Lidge will play an important role in tonights game. If there is a slim margin going into the ninth, he will determine the fate of the game, series, and ultimately, the season.

The Late Richie Ashburn has been nominated for the Ford C. frick award forhisplay-byplay back in the 1980s. We miss you Richie!

Jaime Moyer Collected his 13th win of this 208 campaign today. Pedro Martinez lost as he now falls to 5-4.

outtaherephils player of the game: Carlos Ruiz

Tonight will be ace Cole Hamels (11-9).

We Will Sweep

Jaime Moyer is on the hill today for  the Phillies against Pedro Martinez in Shea Stadium.
Jaime is 12-7 vs the 5-3 Pedro.

The night game will be started by none other than Cole Hamels. Cole is 12-8 with a 3.01 ERA.

Quick Stat: Cole Hamels actually has a better ERA away (3.00) than home (3.03).

Brad Lidge could improve to 36/36 today in Saves.
