Cole Hamels' Elbow Feeling Better

Cole Hamels is feeling better! He threw from the mound for the first time since leaving training camp. Cole recieved an anti-inflammatory shot and was able to throw almost two innings without any pain. He is planning to pitch in a minor league game this week. He is feeling good about the home opener on April fifth.

Phillies Sting Rays, Triumph over TB, 12-5

The Phightins won their first game since October 29, 2008, the year that will easily go down in Philadelphia history as the "year of the fan". The big man Ryan Howard and fresh from the Phillies Minor League tree, John Mayberry, Jr. smacked one too.   Raul Ibanez, put on a hitting display as Kendrick want 2 2/3, surrendering 1 run.

Howard gets his cash

THIS JUST IN:

Ryan Howard has just signed a 3 year, $54 million deal with the Phillies, avoiding arbitration.

He will make $15 million this season, $19 million next year, and tops it off with $20,000,000 in 2011.

Only a week until pitchers and catchers report.

The Phillies first spring training game is at home against the Blue Jays in Clearwater.

Chase Utley Rehab

Chase Utley had surgery on his right hip on November 23 spoke to the media on Dec 16.
Is he going to be ready to rejoin the defending World Champs in the spring of '09?
He is very optimistic and is planning to be part of the winning squad.

Rehab is going very well and he is working hard, and he wants to do it right so he does not have this problem again.

He has been in rehab for six weeks and each day, thing are getting better.

As a big Utley fan, I am looking forward to having him back full strength in the spring.
We all wish him the best of luck with his rehab.
