Happ is Happy; earns first MLB win

JA Happ got his first career MLB win, 6-1 over Jair Jurrjens and the Braves last night. Ryan Howard hit an RBI single in the first inning to help JA Happ to a four run first.

Quick Stat: The Phillies have not lost a game at Turner Field this season.

Tonights Pitchers:

Hamels (13-9) vs Reyes (3-11)

Hamels is strongly favored to win over Atlanta tonight for one reason:

Cole's ERA is 200 points lower than Reyes'. This means that it will basiclly be a slugfest for both teams.

Cramer Prediction: Ryan Howard will hit yet another bomb and the Phillies will take the win 8-4.

Myers goes the distance, phillies sweep

Brett Myers pitched a hell of a game last night, giving up just one run on two hits over nine innings. He added to the cause with an RBI single in the second and scoring from second base on a single by Jimmy Rollins. Great Job Brett. Shane Victorino chipped in by going 4-4 last night as the Phils took it 6-1. They are tied for first at0p the wild card.

Lil' Man Carrieth; Phillies take Game 2

Jimmy Rollins fell a triple short of the cycle today as Cole Hamels won his 13th game against the brewers, 7-3. Manny Parra took the loss in one and a third innings. Brad Lidge preserved a four run lead in the ninth.

t1_jimmy_rollins.jpg
Jimmy had a great day, scoring three runs, with a single, double and a two-run dinger. Ryan Howard extended his hit streak to seven games. His bat is heating up, as he is now hitting a miniscule, but decent, .243. He has been good on the 'paths though, scoring an average of 1.6 runs per game.

Brewers at Phillies: 9/13/08

The Big Guys: Cole Hamels, Jayson Werth, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder.
Where: 1 citizens bank way, home of the phillies.
When: 3:55 pm ET
Who: Manny Parra (10-7) vs Cole Hamels (12-9)
Quick Stat: The Phillies have the home field advantage vs the mets if needed.

Manny Parra will start todays game against Cole Hamels at Citizens Bank Park. The Brewers are favored to lose to Cole for two reasons.

#1: Manny's ERA is almost 100 points higher than Cole's
#2: Manny almost never reaches the seventh inning. For his Career, he goes n average of 4.2 innings per game. Cole rarely leaves before the sixth as his average for  IP/game is 6.2

The offense has been stale in september. This has been a problem for the Phillies this year as they tend to blow leads early in the game and can't catch up later.

The Battle Down Under: This game will be decided by the bottom four in the lineups. This most likely means for the Phillies it will rest on the shoulders of Shane Victorino, Pedro Feliz, Carlos Ruiz, and Cole Hamels.

Speaking of the bottom four, Cole Hamels is hitting well this season. If I'm Charlie Manuel, tis is My Lineup:

SS Rollins
LF Werth
1B Howard
2B Utley
CF Victorino
C Coste
3B Feliz
P Hamels
RF Taguchi

Although this is not the official Lineup, we will win with Hamels hitting eighth. If he can pinch hit in the eleventh, he can hit in the 8 hole.

The Bullpen:

Because the majority of the Brewers hitters are righties, I'm gonna leave this one to Madson. However, if there are back-to-back lefties, Romero will get the call. He has a blazing 95 mph fastball and a great changeup which is his main K pitch.

Lidge will play an important role in tonights game. If there is a slim margin going into the ninth, he will determine the fate of the game, series, and ultimately, the season.

We Will Sweep

Jaime Moyer is on the hill today for  the Phillies against Pedro Martinez in Shea Stadium.
Jaime is 12-7 vs the 5-3 Pedro.

The night game will be started by none other than Cole Hamels. Cole is 12-8 with a 3.01 ERA.

Quick Stat: Cole Hamels actually has a better ERA away (3.00) than home (3.03).

Brad Lidge could improve to 36/36 today in Saves.

Phils lose, Nats are HOT

The phillies lost today to the red hot nationals in DC as Washington won its 7th straight. They are 25 back of first place. The Phillies remain 1/2 game back of NY heading into game 2 in the capitol.
Tim redding took a no hit bid into the sixth but gave up a shane victorino infield single. a wild thow by Nats catcher Jesus Flores got Vic to 3rd and he scored on a Ryan Howard double. Utley crushed #32 but that was almost it as the Phils lost, 7-4.

About that Sabathia play. That was a No Hitter. Not a 1 hitter. It Was A No-No! Hopefully, the brew crew will get their case in MLB "court. U dont mess with CC!
